Extra-curricular activities are activities that children can participate in, outside of the normal learning environment.

These activities are beyond the standard curriculum and are designed to be enjoyable and beneficial for children, enhancing learning experiences. At Blossoms we are continuously looking for new experiences for the children to enjoy, arranging sessions on different days to ensure all children can benefit from the extra-curricular activities

Little Play Dreamers

One Wednesday morning a month, we enjoy a world of imagination with Amelia at Little Play Dreamers.

Her sessions are always fun, active and extremely engaging for all children to enjoy. The children show great confidence sharing ideas, joining in games and submerging into relaxation time to finish off these fantastic sessions.

We work closely with Amelia to bring the magic of Imagination Time to our nurseries, with our whole team receiving specialist training to support these wonderful experiences. We also love extending this learning to our families, offering parents the opportunity to take part in this fantastic training too, helping them continue the power of imagination at home.

French Lessons

Our preschool children take part in weekly French lessons! Viviane from Kidslingo French, comes in every Thursday morning, term time only.

The children learn the welcome song, talk about how they are feeling and learn some basic French words. The session is rounded off with the goodbye song and lots of parachute fun.

Learning a new language provides young children with a range of cognitive, social, and emotional benefits that contribute to their overall mental health and well-being. Early childhood is the key period to start language learning.

Kixx

Every Thursday and Friday, our preschool and toddler children across both settings enjoy Kixx sessions with Coach Conor.

The sessions strengthen listening skills as children follow instructions, learn new football techniques, build confidence and, most importantly, have fun being active. It was wonderful to see every child participate, encourage others and embrace the joy of sport.

Experiences like these develop physical skills, coordination, teamwork and resilience while connecting children’s interests and current events with meaningful learning.

Number Train

All aboard the Number Train! This award-winning preschool programme inspires children to become confident, creative and curious.

One Friday each month, Annette from Number Train visits our settings to lead a themed session. Each exciting journey develops a wide range of skills and nurtures a love of maths from an early age.

Baby Band

We are delighted to welcome Amelia from Baby Band into both our Blossoms settings one Wednesday each month, providing our younger children with exciting and engaging opportunities to explore the world of music.

Each session introduces the children to a different genre, from 90’s pop and jazz to Disney classics, rock, and girl bands, ensuring every experience is varied and inspiring.

Through singing, dancing and high-quality percussions instruments, our children explore key musical concepts, while developing confidence, coordination, communication and a genuine love of music.

Yorkshire Muddings

In celebration of National Outdoor Play Week, Yorkshire Muddings came to Blossoms!

We had a lovely few days at both our settings, enjoying sessions from Katie at Yorkshire Muddings. Together we created nests using clay and other natural objects, threaded with dandelions, ordered pine cones by size and enjoyed mud painting.

The children loved the fire pit the most, making s’mores! This was a fantastic experience and the children all followed fire safety brilliantly. They particularly enjoyed eating their s’mores for snack- staff included!

ZooLab

We had a special visit from ZooLab, providing a Chinese New Year themed session!

As 2025 is the year of the snake, the children got to experience holding a snake and learning more about the different species. We also held snails, a stick insect, a millipede and came up close to a tarantula ! Along with watching how the frog jumps and cockroaches climb the walls… it was such a fascinating, exciting session!

What will they bring next time?…

Owl Adventures

We had a truly unforgettable visit at Blossoms Day Nursery as we celebrated National Wildlife Week!
Owl Adventures brought along four types of owls, giving the children a rare opportunity to see these magnificent birds up close. The children watched in awe as the owls flew gracefully around the rooms, feeling the gentle rush of air as their wings passed by.
Every child had the chance to hold an owl, and they were all so brave! It was such a brilliant, hands-on experience. We can’t wait for their next visit!
